Kick off meeting

 Between the 14th-15th of March 2024, the Kick-off meeting of the Erasmus+ KA2 School project stAI – Act before it happens: Preventing and fighting Early Leaving from Education and Training with Artificial Intelligence, took place in Rome, Italy.

The stAI project aims to reduce early education dropouts by mapping risk factors, suggesting interventions, and advancing AI in decision-making. It involves creating a risk map, compiling best practices, and developing an AI prompt system. Expected outcomes include intervention recommendations, a compendium on AI systems, and stakeholder engagement.

During the meeting, the stAI project was presented, and all Work Package Leaders presented the topics to be elaborated along with Management and Dissemination topics.

📅 On October 3rd and 4th, 2024, Emphasys Centre hosted the second transnational meeting of the Erasmus+ KA2 School project, stAI, in Nicosia, Cyprus.

The stAI project focuses on reducing early school dropouts by identifying risk factors, recommending interventions, and integrating AI into decision-making processes. Key objectives include creating a risk factor map, compiling best practices, and developing an AI-based prompt system.  The anticipated outcomes include tailored intervention strategies, a comprehensive guide on AI systems, and active stakeholder engagement.

During the meeting, the team reviewed the progress of each work package, discussed upcoming deadlines, and outlined the tasks to be completed.

The 3rd transnational meeting of the stAI project!

stAI – Act before it happens: Preventing and fighting Early Leaving from Education and Training with Artificial Intelligence 

Between the 29th – 30th of May 2025, the third transnational meeting of the Erasmus+ KA2 School project stAI, took place in Lisbon, Portugal.

During the meeting, the status of each work package was presented, along with the upcoming deadlines and tasks to be completed. A great presentation for WP4 on the progress of the AI-based prompt system to support local evidence-based decision making! Partners will be sent to begin the initial testing.

stAI – Act before it happens: Preventing and fighting Early Leaving from Education and Training with Artificial Intelligence

📍 Brussels | February 3–5, 2026

The consortium met at TPM 4 and the LTTA – Learning, Teaching & Training Activity of the stAI project, bringing together partners and special participants for three intensive days dedicated to tackling one of education’s most complex challenges: preventing early school leaving.

During the training and project meetings, partners:
• Deepened their understanding of AI in education, with a strong focus on data quality, ethics, explainability, and responsibility
• Tested and critically discussed the AI dropout-risk prediction tool, exploring both its potential and its limitations
• Reflected on the human impact of AI-supported decision-making, ensuring technology supports educators and learners — never replaces them

Through open dialogue and hands-on collaboration, the consortium demonstrated a rigorous and responsible approach, carefully balancing innovation with accountability. The meetings concluded with strong alignment on next steps across all work packages.

A sincere thank you to the project coordinator Háskóli Íslands (IS), the host VUB – Vrije Universiteit Brussel (BE), and partners CRES Association (IT), ScuolAttiva Onlus (IT), Colegiul Național de Artă „Octav Băncilă” Iași (RO), and Escola Secundária Dr. José Afonso (PT) for their excellent collaboration and fruitful meeting.
